Scientific collaboration

Scientific collaboration is an important component of the IRSN’s research. It stimulates effective and inventive research by a synergy of the cultures, techniques and resources of the various partners for research where issues are shared. These resources, once brought into play and the results obtained, discussed and peer-reviewed, are the basis of dialogue among the scientific community and therefore aid in the development of networks. For the research scientists at the IRSN, this collaboration is one of the ways for them to gain recognition by the scientific community.

Collaborations

Within France, the IRSN has developed a strong cooperation with university laboratories and with public and private sector research organisations such as the CNRS, Inserm, InVS, Afssa, Affsaps, Afsset, INRS, Ineris and the BRGM. Detailed consultation and co-funding practices in terms of research exist with the CEA, EDF and Areva and are developed as and when required.

The IRSN has also developed European partnerships, allowing it to share research costs and enhance the value of the centres of scientific excellence within the Institute. Beyond the countries of the European Union, within which Germany holds a special place, strong scientific cooperation is maintained, particularly with its equivalent organisations in the United States, Russia, Japan and South Korea.
