IRSN has developed a dose coefficients database known as ECRIN, whose purpose is to provide validated, referenced values that will guarantee internal consistency within IRSN when calculating doses received by humans.
The database can be used to assess risks as part of expert analyses, during emergency response exercises, or in the event of real crises. The software's structure allows it to include data published by different bodies. ECRIN covers doses due to external irradiation (exposure to the plume, to soil deposits or to immersion in water), and internal contamination by inhalation and ingestion, whether received by workers or members of the public, in different age brackets.
Some of these data are recommended by IRSN as reference values: they are the current Federal Guidance data for external irradiation and the EURATOM directive data for internal contamination. A version of ECRIN has also been supplied to EDF.
