Summary

Interpretation and modelling of fission product release in severe accident conditions has been carried out thanks to VERCORS experimental results. Understanding of some fission product behaviour, namely barium, caesium, molybdenum and ruthenium is described. In order to evaluate fission products volatility from precipitates, thermodynamic equilibrium calculations were performed thanks to NUCLEA database and GEMINI2 tool which are developed by Thermodata with IRSN support. Besides, ab initio calculations of fission products incorporation and diffusion in uranium dioxide are carried out using Vienna Ab Initio Simulation Package (VASP). In order to validate hypothesis on thermo-chemical states of fission products in fuel during accident scenario, micro-analysis of VERCORS samples are planned.
