Summary

This paper presents and applies a Cahn-Hilliard/Navier-Stokes model whose originality lies in a special free energy and in special evolution equations for the order parameters. Algebraic and dynamic consistency with the underlying diphasic systems is guaranteed. Interfacial stresses are represented by volumic capillary forces accounting for the three different surface tensions. The behavior of a bubble crossing a liquid/liquid interface is successfully computed: the bubble may be captured by the interface or may escape, in which case wake entrainment of the heavier liquid may occur. The dependency of the entrained volume with the fluid properties is studied. The results are in good agreement with experimental observations of the litterature.
