This year's edition of the EUROSAFE forum will take place in Cologne (Germany) on 4th and 5th November 2013. Jointly organized by GRS (Germany), Bel V (Belgium) and IRSN (France), this technical and scientific annual forum aims to contribute to fostering the convergence of technical nuclear safety practices in a broad European context.
The 2013 EUROSAFE Forum will focuses on the safety of nuclear waste disposal, which must be ensured for times exceeding average human imagination. In order to resolve this challenge many scientific, technical, environmental, and socio-economic aspects must be addressed embedded in a broad societal approach. The topic will be considered in lectures covering recent and on-going international projects from the point of view of an implementer, a regulator, a Technical Safety Organisation (TSO) and a municipality hosting a repository site.
From this year onward, the ETSON association will annually present an award for a paper jointly authored by a group of young experts from different ETSON members. The paper should relate to scientific technical domains covered by the ETSON members’ activities and should mark the front end of the state of the art in the corresponding field of expertise. This ETSON Award becomes an element of the EUROSAFE Forum. On the second day, the latest work carried out by ETSON and its associated members and partners will be presented.
