IRSN publishes two reports on nuclear safety and radiation protection of nuclear installations in France

As a public expert in the field of research and expertise on nuclear and radiological risks, IRSN contributes to the policy of transparency in the nuclear field in France. In this context, the Institute has published at the end of 2013 two reports on the safety and radiation protection of French nuclear facilities. These two documents are now available in English.

These reports are intended to contribute to a better understanding by the stakeholders and the public of the practical issues of safety and radiation protection associated with the exploitation of nuclear facilities, as well as the progress made in terms of safety and of shortcomings identified. In accordance with the missions of the IRSN, they were developed based on an independent scientific and technical expertise.

The first report « IRSN’s Position on Safety and Radiation Protection at Nuclear Power Plants in France, 2012 » gives the IRSN’s independent point of view on all progress and problems concerning safety and radiation protection encountered in the French nuclear power plant fleet in 2012.

It covers plants, laboratories, research reactors and facilities for the treatment, storage or disposal of waste.
