IRSN received on late November 2015 a delegation of the Chinese nuclear safety authority NSC to explore possible topics for future joint research program between both organisations.
The meeting resulted
in proposals to incorporate the NSC in ongoing research at IRSN such as the
Odoba program on aging pathologies in reactor containment concrete, or to conduct research related to the agglomeration of debris in the event of a serious accident in the facilities built by NSC.
These discussions in the field of research testify to the vitality of the relationships developed by the Institute with its Chinese partners.
In 2015, the Chinese electric utility
CNPE selected IRSN for the qualification of the filtration systems sumps in its 4 new reactors (Fuqing 5 and 6 and Fangjiashan 1 and 2). Tests will be conducted in the Viktoria Loop, a facility built by IRSN and its partner the Slovakian engineering company Vúez.
A discussion has also been initiated with CNPE to transfer the expertise of the Institute in order to build an experimental facility identical to the Viktoria Loop in China.
