From 10 to 12 October 2017, IRSN hosts in Paris (France) the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) and the European research platforms for the
4th International Symposium on the System of radiological Protection, jointly organized with the 2nd European Radiation Protection Research Week.
For nearly 90 years, ICRP has developed, maintained, and elaborated the International System of Radiological Protection used as the common basis for radiological protection standards, legislation, guidelines, and practice. This system protects millions of patients, workers, and members of the public every day worldwide.
The European research platforms address the fundamentals of science, research questions, technical and organizational aspects of radiation protection. The event will bring together all the partners of the European research platforms: MELODI (low doses effects), EURADOS (dosimetry), NERIS (emergency preparedness), ALLIANCE (radioecology) and EURAMED (medical applications).
For professionals, experts and researchers from around the world, this combined event will offer a unique opportunity to discuss their respective concerns and the current challenges faced in all areas of radiological protection, as well as the ways forward through new research, updating doctrines, or better interactions with stakeholders.
Preliminary programme of sessions
Effects, Risks, and Detriment at Low Dose and Low Dose-Rate (in collaboration with MELODI)
Advances in Dose Coefficients (in collaboration with EURADOS)
Advanced Radiotherapy: Benefits and Radiation Protection due to Developments in Imaging, New Technologies, and Stratification (in collaboration with EURAMED)
Post-Accident Recovery (in collaboration with NERIS)
Integrated Protection of People and the Environment (in collaboration with ALLIANCE)
Recent scientific advances in radiation biology and pathology, epidemiology, dosimetry, radioecology, medical applications of ionizing radiation and emergency preparedness and response (programme based on invited lectures and submitted abstracts)
