A macroscopic model for solidification of binary mixtures accounting for solid transport is under investigation. Average conservation equations are derived using a volume averaging technique.
Such upscaling procedure introduces non classical terms in the resulting macroscopic conservation equations. A closure is proposed for these particular terms. The model is tested on a sedimentation case and for equiaxed solidification.
