A Science Day to launch the IRSN Dissertation Days (21-24 September 2010)
18/07/2010
The Dissertation Days 2010, a seminar dedicated to the work of IRSN PhD
students and post-docs, will take place in Arles from the 21st to the 24th September 2010. In a new departure this year, the first day will be a Science Day focusing on ‘Research into Risk Assessment’.
A showcase for university research and knowledge extending beyond the nuclear field, this event will be an opportunity to exchange ideas with delegates from universities and IRSN partners.
The following three days will be organised into a series of sessions during which the PhD students and some post-docs from the Institute will present their work. These sessions will be introduced by keynote presentations setting the scene with the challenges facing researchers in the fields of safety, and the radiological protection of humans and the environment.

Research assessment
AERES assesses research at the IRSN
15/07/2010
AERES carried out an assessment of all the IRSN research laboratories between the 21st June and the 6th July 2010.
The laboratories were divided into four separate units: Health, Environment, Reactor safety, and Neutronics and Containment. Each of these units was assessed over two days at Fontenay-aux-Roses, Cadarache (two units), and Saclay.
AERES plans to inspect the IRSN, as an establishment in its own right, during the final quarter of 2010.
