Post-doctorate contracts give doctoral graduates an opportunity to develop their competence while contributing to IRSN’s research work.
These short-term contracts are limited to one year, and may be renewed once. Candidates must have completed their doctoral thesis at an institute or university other than IRSN, and their post-doctoral research projects must be closely related to their doctorate thesis.
IRSN’s recruitment procedure for this programme is similar to that established for doctoral theses, in that candidates’ proposals for research projects are reviewed by researchers from universities or other research institutes, but there are no interviews.
Most post-doctorate contracts are financed through the IRSN’s budget, although some post-doctoral projects are now being funded through joint financing.
At the end of their contract, most post-doctorate researchers (80%) obtain a tenured contract, and about half of them are employed by IRSN.
