Radiation protection: IRSN and other international professionals at the Congress of the IRPA

IRSN will take part in the 14th Congress of the International Radiation Protection Association (IRPA) to be held in Cape Town (South Africa) from May 9 to May 13, 2016. This meeting, which takes place every four years, is the opportunity for radiation protection professionals to communicate their latest work, scientific knowledge and operational experience in radiation protection.

Under the theme of "Practising Radiation Protection: Sharing the experience and new challenges", the Congress will hold scientific presentations representing 11 topical areas:

  • Fundamental science
  • Policy, standards, and culture
  • Medical
  • General ionising radiation protection
  • Justification, optimisation, and design of new facilities
  • Radiation detection and dosimetry
  • Environment and natural background
  • Transport and sealed sources management
  • Non-ionising radiation
  • Emergency preparedness and management
  • Decommissioning, waste management, and remediation.

The Association, which claims 18,000 members representing 65 countries, will also celebrate during the conference its 50th anniversary.
