To characterize chemistry and movement of water in geological formations chosen for their very low water content is somehow paradoxical. We expose the genesis of a predictive model for water-rock interactions applicable to crystalline or sedimentary media. Elemental transfers are described and specific experimental methods developed for these media are cited.
