A 205 m deep borehole located in Aigion harbour crossed three main sedimentary units : a marine Holocene unit, a brackish to marine unit, and a detrital deltaic unit interbedded with lagoonal layers attributed to sea level highstands of marine isotopic stages 3 and 5. Environmental conditions of sedimentation (depth, salinity, …) are determined by micropaleontological studies. 14C ages and matching with published sea-level curves yield preliminary results on subsidence and sedimentation rates. Subsidence rates are close to those inferred from palaeoseismological studies (1.4-3.2 m/ka), whereas sedimentation rates are variable (1.6-13.8 m/ka). These rates should allow to estimate the activity of nearby faults.
