Workers radiation Protection Assessment Unit (UETP)

The Worker’s Radiation protection Assessment Unit, or UETP (formerly SAER, Radiation protection  Assessment and Analysis Section) is a unit of the Radiation protection Assessment and Study Service (SER) located at Fontenay-aux-Roses. It groups together around twenty engineers.

Its mission is to analyze radiation protection of civil nuclear installations and assess the doses received by the populations due to their exposure to ionizing radiation. In particular, it provides technical support to the Radiation protection and Nuclear Safety Authority with regard to radiation protection.

These tasks require seeing how radiation protection principles are applied, defining doctrines adapted to the contexts studied (for example: exposure of workers or the public, normal operation of installations or accidental situations, new activity, dismantling or discharge, experience feedback), proposing assessment methods for doses and practical analyses, and providing the necessary calculation means and databases.
