Summary

In order to achieve a satisfactory level of hygiene and safety in nuclear workplaces and to assess pollutant transfers, it is necessary to characterize the consequences of disturbances on the radioactive material containment. In nuclear industry, the response of a ventilation network to accidental disturbances can be modeled with a code called SIMEVENT. But among the disturbances likely to affect pollutant transfer, the door opening effect is not currently modeled in this code, which so calculates a homogeneous pollutant concentration in both rooms. Then numerical and experimental approaches have been used to evaluate, in steady state, air flow rate passing through an open door.
