A macroscopic model of solidification for binary mixtures accounting for solid transport is developed. Average conservation equations are derived using a volume averaging technique. Such upscaling procedure introduces non classical terms in the resulting macroscopic conservation equations for which a closure is proposed. The model is tested on an experimental case of equiaxed solidification.
